The weather was hot, with some strong thunderstorms. Most days had extreme temperatures in the 90's, and one could feel and taste the humidity. A few afternoon storms brought some rain with some strong wind gusts. The penultimate week of the month was less humid and comfortable, with the last week becoming hot and humid again. This was the second hottest July on record, with approximately 2 1/4 inches of rain. There were 589 sightings reported to Dutchess County eBirds. This month's records highlight the eBird summary reports, the results of the Watershed Awareness field trips, and some interesting sightings. Since this issue of the newsletter contains both July and August records, the report has been condensed.
