2008 Records
March 5th featured a record high of 69F in Poughkeepsie and
lots of rain all around. Of course, we were still in for subfreezing
temperatures and even a bit of snow later in the month. Exceptional
species this month included Tundra Swan, Horned Grebe, Great Cormorant, Northern
Shrike, an early Gray Catbird on the 14th, and a VERY early Marsh Wren on
the 16th (beating the old record for earliest spring arrival). Common
Redpolls and Pine Siskins were welcome irruptives.
