Chet
Vincent was at Thompson Pond late the afternoon of February
1, 2006, watching the blackbirds
come to roost for the night. Among the hundreds
of birds, mostly Red-wings, was one Yellow-headed Blackbird.
Chet was on the causeway when he saw it. This
is the sixth record of Yellow-headed Blackbird for Dutchess
County. The last one reported in the county was
seen in 1989.
Chet
says the blackbirds aren't at Thompson Pond during the
day. They must spend their days in the surrounding
areas. So check out any blackbird flocks you see
in the northern parts of the county.
if you find the Yellow-headed one!
