Snow Buntings are not a rarity in Dutchess, but they are a delight to find in the winter.

Barbara Mansell found a Snow Bunting on the Christmas Bird Count on 12/16/06. The bird was by itself and landed on a rock next to the Hudson River. Barbara said, "I have seen a bunting along the Hudson sometime ago when I went birding with the gang on the west side of the river by the Tappan Zee Bridge. Yesterday, I happened to see this bird fly in onto the rock and sure enough, it was a bunting!"
