Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Poughkeepsie, Christmas 1966 - March 1967

The major exodus of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks for the South occurs by the end of September.  Most Octobers one or two grosbeaks remain through mid-month.  Prior to 1990, there was only one winter record.  One immature male was found Dec. 25, 1966, by Sylvia Hauser at her feeder at Beechwood Apartments, two miles south of Poughkeepsie. It stayed through March 1967.
