Marbled Godwit
Sharon Station, June 2-6, 1979
Dutchess County's only record of this species
Photos by H. Sweeney

One Marbled Godwit seen from June 2 - 6, 1979 at Sharon Station, found by Dot Fleury and Trixi Strauss, and seen by many.  This is the only Dutchess County record as of August 2004. A report was submitted to NYSARC and accepted.

Normally found in the west, Marbled Godwits are found in very small numbers on the south shore of Long Island in fall.  They are infrequently seen there in spring.  Inland records are exceptional.
