Kentucky Warbler
Poughkeepsie, NY May - June 2002 and May 2004

5/26/04...The Kentucky Warbler is back at Vassar Farm.  Barb Michelin reported on May 26:  "I heard the Kentucky Warbler singing but not from the hill behind the rugby field as in other years.   It has moved to an area not easily gotten to for viewing the bird.   After you go through the gate at the dump road, continue straight and past the big tree on the right.  There is an area of trees and bushes on the left side of the road.  The trees in the back is where the Kentucky was singing and I saw it.  After you go past these trees and bushes you will find a meadow with ferns in it.  You will need to bush whack and need Wellies.  The weeds are high and plan to get your pants wet if you go.  You will find a stream along the tall trees and he was singing in two to three trees there.  There may be a way into the tall trees from the dump if you will be allowed in that area.  I did not have time to try that way on Tuesday morning."

6/14/02...The KENTUCKY WARBLER is back at Vassar Farms. It was found in the same spot as the last two years by Peter Relson and Barb Michelin (separately) on May 22. The bird was in the wooded area just north of the soccer field. As you walk toward the edge of the woods, you should hear him, as he sings loudly and fairly constantly. As of June 10, the Kentucky Warbler was spending more time south of the athletic fields, near the "dump road."
