Horned Lark & Vesper, Grasshopper, and Savannah Sparrows
Greig Farm, Red Hook , July 2006

7/8/06...Barbara Butler reported:  The Saturday (July 8th) field trip to Greig Farm found Horned Larks, Vesper, Grasshopper, and Savannah Sparrows, in numbers and with young. Walk on the farm road that goes between Rockefeller and Pitcher Lanes. Look in the dirt for the Horned Larks and find the sparrows perched on tall weeds, posts or raspberry bushes. Take a scope, if you have one, for closeup looks.

Please stay on the farm roads and out of the fields. (Then stop to pick some blueberries at Greig's u-pick-it place on Pitcher Lane.)

Directions:   Take Rt 9 north out of Red Hook to Rockefeller Lane. Turn left onto Rockefeller Lane and go a mile or so to the soccer field on the left to park. It's a short walk back to the farm road, which you just passed on the right.
