Grasshopper Sparrow
Greig Farm, Red Hook, 2005 & 2006

Grasshopper Sparrows were found in the summers of 2005 and 2006 at Greig Farm in Red Hook. Prior to these sightings, there had been only eight reports of Grasshopper Sparrows since 1990. The July 2006 field trip to Grieg Farm found a young bird, the first breeding evidence for Grasshopper Sparrow found in the county since 1982.

The photo below was taken by Steve Golladay at Greig Farm in July 2006.
