immature male Brambling found from March 1 - 27, 1984 in Pleasant
Valley at the home of Earl Brockway. This is the only Dutchess
County record. A
report was submitted to NYSARC and accepted.
"Many
other Bramblings
were found at widely scattered points in the United States and
Canada
during the winter 1983/84. The distribution of records
of this and of
other Palaearctic species suggests a Siberian origin for this
bird. This
was the eastern-most bird reported, although there are earlier
records
from western Massachusetts and New Jersey." (The Kingbird,
Fall 1985)
